If you’re one of those petrolheads who wish to get down and dirty, ignoring the glamour of F1 and preferring to take in the crashes and bangs of a race series which delivers super-close, super-intense racing, then the NASCAR Heat games are likely to be for you. And right now the latest iteration of that series has launched on Xbox One, PS4 and PC. Are you ready for the rubbing of NASCAR Heat 5?

Available to purchase and download right now on Xbox One, PS4 and PC, NASCAR Heat 5 is the latest in the long running NASCAR Heat titles, once more officially licensed to ensure that your experience here is one that can replicate the real-world sport as best it can.

Developed by the team at 704Games, NASCAR Heat 5 is here initially in Gold Edition form, providing players with three days worth of early access ahead of full Standard Edition launch on the 10th July. Running with a price point of £59.99 on Xbox One (which is a fairly hefty increase over the £44.99 asked of the Standard Edition), those who decide to plump for the Gold Edition will also find the iconic Tony Stewart in place – yep, him behind the rather great self-titled Tony Stewart’s Sprint Car Racing. This means old Tony will come as an in-game spotter, with an exclusive contract offer for you to race with the Stewart-Hass Racing team, additional paint schemes, more in-game cash to help things further AND the inclusion of the NASCAR Heat 5 Season Pass.  This Season Pass will deliver you no less than four further DLC packs later down the line, allowing you to customise your game even more.

Of course, no matter which edition of the game you buy, you can be sure that NASCAR HEAT 5 on Xbox One, PS4 and PC will provide the racing goods you are looking for. As the official game of the world’s most popular and iconic stockcar series, expect to find yourself behind the wheel of some stupidly powerful beasts as you attempt to be crowned 2020 NASCAR Cup Series Champion. With all the usual drivers and cars in place from all of the NASCAR National Series’ and the Xtreme Dirt Tour, no less than 39 tracks, and the chance to play things alone or with friends via both online and splitscreen capabilities, on the face of it, there is much to love here.

Features include:

  • · Introducing Test Session Mode – practice without AI, adjust your setup, and refine your race craft
  • · Deeper career mode statistics – track your performance more accurately, such as average finish, average start
  • · Race online for the ultimate challenge against up to 39 other drivers
  • · Take part in the eNASCAR Heat Pro League for the chance to drive for one of the official NASCAR teams!
  • · Full car set up options allow you to refine the car to suit the circuit and your racing style

We should well be able to let you know exactly how things play out in NASCAR Heat 5 on Xbox One, PS4 and PC via a full review, so if you’re not yet sold, keep an eye out for it. If you are desperate to get involved in some proper racing though, then the usual digital stores will sort you out – our favourite being the Xbox Store. You’ll be able to grab the NASCAR Heat 5 Gold Edition right now, but those looking to save a little cash, or who aren’t fussed by the extras promised, will be able to take home the Standard Edition from the 10th July.

Let us know which option you’ll take – or if F1 2020 is more your thing. The comments are down below.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
