Sea of Thieves, Crackdown 3 and more to launch in Xbox Game Pass

In the summer of 2017 the Xbox Game Pass was born. Delivering a huge number of titles to the Xbox One masses for one monthly fee, it was a great way of ensuring newcomers to the Xbox world could get hands on with numerous titles. But no matter how many games were included in the pass, for those veteran Xbox gamers out there, the ones with a host of games already in their library, it wasn’t such a great deal. Today though that all changes as it has been revealed that brand new titles published by Microsoft Studios will hit the Xbox Game Pass.

That means the likes of Sea of Thieves, Crackdown 3, State of Decay 2 and a whole ton more unannounced games will be available for one monthly subscription price. Expect to see future iterations of Forza, Gears of War and Halo also brought to the pass.

With MajorNelson and Phil Spencer detailing the revelations, this could well be the moment the Xbox Game Pass moves from ‘interesting’ to ‘must have’. Starting with the global launch of Sea of Thieves on the 20th March 2018, we’ll start to see brand new games hitting the pass on release day.

Furthermore, retail partners close to Xbox – the likes of GameStop – will be able to start selling 6 month passes to the Xbox Game Pass. $59.99 is all you’ll need to find and again this will push the pass on to those who previously dismissed it.

Full details of the statement from Phil Spencer can be found on MajorNelson’s blog. Make sure you check them out.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.

I must say this is really enticing. $60 for 6 months of a new games (some that I wouldn’t think about buying) instead of $60 for one game that I may not even like (looking at you Halo 5)? Sign me up!

I’ve had no need for the Game Pass up to now, this changes things though!
