We first heard of Colt Canyon when it was announced by Headup Games back at the start of 2019. After a year, it’s here and if you’re looking for the opportunity to go looting and shooting through a wonderfully realised Wild West world, its release on Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC is something to seriously consider.

Available to purchase and download right now on Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC, Colt Canyon will see you going out to try and save your partner as you work your way through a rather delightful looking 2D pixel arted shooter, taking charge of a number of different characters in order to take down the most evil of bandits and rescue your friend.

Priced at £12.49 – at least on Xbox One as other on Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam it’s a little cheaper – Colt Canyon plays out as a rogue-like affair, pushing out random levels one after the other as you care for nothing less than shooting anything that moves. With your trusty revolver in hand, and an overriding objective focusing on saving your partner, expect to find a world full of clever ideas, hidden treasures and high replayability. It just so happens that the chance to satiate your bloodthirsty ways will come about too.

You won’t have to go about it alone too as Colt Canyon comes with full local cooperative options for those able to drag a friend or family member along for the ride.

Features of Colt Canyon include:

  • Range of characters and weapons to play and unlock
  • Dynamic and immersive environments and enemies
  • AI-Controlled companions
  • Local Coop
  • Upgrades for you and your companions
  • Randomized, persistent and open levels
  • Strategic stealth and fast-paced action
  • Boss Fights
  • Roguelike elements
  • Permadeath
  • High replayability
  • Beautiful minimalistic pixel art
  • Punchy particle effects

Grabbing a copy of Colt Canyon and getting the chance to head into this new Wild West setting could not be easier. Hit up the Nintendo eShop or Steam pages on the links up top, or just do what we do and saddle up to join us with a mosey on over to the Xbox Store.

Should you wish to know more about how Colt Canyon plays out then hit up the launch trailer below, or hold out for our full review of Colt Canyon on Xbox One. It’ll be shootin’ its way to your eyeballs in the days ahead.

Game Description:

Take your revolver and rescue your partner in this atmospheric and punchy rogue-like game. Colt Canyon is a 2D pixel art shooter where you control a cowboy, or one of the many other unlockable characters, whose mission is to save his kidnapped partner from the ruthless bandits. Take your gun and TNT and shoot your way through a hostile canyon full of hidden treasures, weapons, obstacles and all kinds of bloodthirsty scum. Maybe you can save more people than just your partner. But watch out. Once you got your partner your job is not done. You’ll also have to get back home…
