Souls-like Hellpoint set to be unleashed for Xbox Series X|S and PS5 in 2021

It’s just been unveiled by Cradle Games and tinyBuild that their dark and atmospheric sci-fi Hellpoint is set for a release on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 next year. Current-gen owners of Hellpoint won’t have to pay a penny more to get the upgrade either!

The enhanced version of Hellpoint is coming to next-gen consoles in 2021, with the regular experience available via backward compatibility until then. Even the standard offering will run better on Xbox Series X|S and PS5 thanks to a patch which adds a new ‘unlock framerate’ option. As for the upgraded versions, these will include support for higher framerates and resolutions, faster loading times, and a choice of two visual modes: a Performance mode with Dynamic 4K @ 60FPS and a Quality mode with Native 4K @ 30 FPS.

If anyone is unfamiliar with Hellpoint, it’s a Souls-like game which takes place in the aftermath of a massive quantum cataclysm called the Merge. You’ll wake up aboard the Irid Novo space station; a beacon of galactic cooperation and scientific exploration that’s unfortunately gone horribly wrong. What happens next will be solely determined by your choices as you search for answers about the goings on through a dark and atmospheric setting. Expect to confront bizarre enemies as you try to master the unforgiving combat system along the way. Should the task be a tad overwhelming, you could get a friend to join in locally and provide assistance during a full, uninterrupted co-op story with shared loot drops.

Don’t forget, for existing and future owners of Hellpoint on Xbox One and PS4, the upgrade to Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 versions will be free in 2021. That seems like a pretty fair deal to us, but do let us know what you think!

Been gaming casually since the SNES as a youngster but found my true passion for games on the Playstation 1 (the forbidden word ooo). My addiction grew to its pinnacle with the purchase of an Xbox 360 & Xbox Live Service. A recovering GS hunter that will still play literally any game.
