Gameloft and Disney nailed the Dreamlight Valley vibe perfectly. They are now trying to do the same with Disney Speedstorm – but you can be sure this will be a whole other racer.
Available right now, allowing players on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch or PC (Steam, Epic, Microsoft) to gain early access to the racing madness is Disney Speedstorm. The ultimate hero-based combat racer, Disney Speedstorm will throw you behind the wheel of many a car, taking on the role of a large cast of Disney’s finest characters, and tasking you with racing around high-speed circuits inspired by a variety of Disney and Pixar worlds.
It arrives in Founder’s Pack form, allowing early access ahead of a full Version 1.0 release further down the line. But those Founder’s Packs bring much; some super arcade-styled racing, tons of customisation, content drops galore and the chance to fully immerse yourself in the world of Disney once more.
Utilising Founder’s Packs is something that the Gameloft team behind Speedstorm tried – and succeeded with – a few months back, when it pushed the rather lovely Disney Dreamlight Valley to the world. Now it’s race time though and the same idea is being used, as players dop their toes into the racing world with three different packs.
The Disney Speedstorm – Standard Founder’s Pack will set you back £25.99 from the Xbox Store, ensuring play on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S (optimised). For that kind of money you’ll get early access to the game, you’ll get to unlock Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck as characters and will find a token for the unlocking of one further racer of your choice from Baloo, Belle, the Beast, Elizabeth Swann, Shang, or Mowgli. 4000 Tokens (the in-game currency) will also be yours, as will a couple of Golden Pass Credits, with these opening up access to the premium tier of Seasonal rewards.
You can then also throw in some exclusive Founding Member gear for Mickey, Donald and your choosen racer, as well as similar for your kart and a motto and avatar. Sounds good eh?
But there’s more and the Deluxe Edition takes that and ups the ante a little. This one costs £44.99, but increases your Token count to 7000 whilst the Ultimate Founder’s Pack moves that to 12000 Tokens and chucks 3 Golden Pass Credits your way. Oh, and that Ultimate Edition will also give you additional wheels and wings for Donald’s kart, but, most importantly, opens up the character roster to ensure access to Mickey, Donald, Mulan, Hercules and the one and only Captain Jack Sparrow. You’ll find racing suits and liveries for all those guys too.
