behind closed doors a developers tale

For many the constant grind of game development can be all too much to handle. But what would happen if the game you were creating suddenly dragged you in, trapping you inside the creation you have put together? That’s the basic premise of Behind Closed Doors: A Developer’s Tale.

Available to purchase and download right now on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5 and Nintendo Switch, Behind Closed Doors: A Developer’s Tale from Sometimes You (Music Racer Ultimate) and Polygonal Wolf sees you dropped into the world of Ethan – your everyday game developer who is trying to make a bit of a living.

It’s here where Ethan’s life turns upside-down and when he gets a call in the middle of the night, the game he is working on turns, dragging him in to the virtual land that has been created. Somehow, somewhen, Ethan musts escape from the development hell that he finds himself in.

Success in Behind Closed Doors: A Developer’s Tale is found by the actioning of trials, as Ethan tries as best he can to get back to the real world, and his pregnant wife who is relying on him.

Behind Closed Doors: A Developer’s Tale is cheap enough to purchase, running at just £4.19 from the Xbox Store. There are a couple of Store pages up for purchase in fact, with the Xbox One native version right here, whilst the fully optimised next-gen Xbox Series X|S drop is here. You’ll find it on PS4, PS5 and Nintendo Switch too.

What is nice is that the Sometimes You team is helping gamers get involved by attaching a 20% discount to the price in the first two weeks from launch, whilst those who have purchased the Xbox One or PS4 version can upgrade with a 50% discount to the Xbox Series X|S or PS5 version.

Stay tuned for a review from us soon, as we delve into Behind Closed Doors: A Developer’s Tale on Xbox Series X|S.

Game Description:

The story of a developer trapped inside a video game? You play as Ethan, who works in the office for a small video game development company and trying to support his pregnant wife. It is just a normal week for Ethan: waking up, going to work, coming home, go to bed and repeat day after day. But then, something strange happens. Ethan gets an unusual phone call in the middle of the night, and is somehow teleported to another dimension. Ethan must complete a few unusual trials and try to get back to the real world.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
