Ever wondered what you get when mixing an interactive fiction tale with an isometric racer? It would probably end up as something like Wheels of Aurelia.
Available to download on Xbox One, Wheels of Aurelia tells the tale of Lella, a woman driving along the famous western coast of Italy as she heads out onto an adventure. There will be choices to be made and there will be debates to be had, but with each playthrough lasting no more than 15 minutes, at least you’ll be safe in the knowledge that your short term actions shouldn’t have too much of a longer lasting reaction.
Now, 15 minutes for a game seems very short, but Wheels of Aurelia comes complete with 16 different endings to discover, so replayability seems high. For the £7.99 asking price, we’d happily get involved. If you agree, you should be taking a ride to the Xbox Games Store right now.
Game Description:
A narrative road trip game set in the roaring Italian 70s, it tells the story of Lella, a restless woman driving on the roads of the western coast of Italy, the famous “Via Aurelia”. This is an interactive fiction game in the shape of an isometric racer and with a focus on replayability: every playthrough lasts about fifteen minutes and there are sixteen different endings to discover. The 1970s in Italy were a time of terrorism, kidnappings, and political turmoil. Based on your choices and the places you’ll decide to visit you may end up in car chases, illegal street races, or in tense debates with a catholic priest, and more from a cast of characters that you have never met before in a video game.
