Basketball is a game that is played by gods – or at least super-powered humans. The jumping, the running, the skill moves and of course the dunks provide moments that leave you spellbound, mouth falling open while watching it. There have been many, many, basketball titles come available since the early days of gaming, keeping fans happy throughout yet lately, the big battle has been between the standard EA offering and the ‘Magic Johnson’ of basketball experiences – NBA 2K. And yep it’s that time of year again and there is a new offering with NBA 2K20 on the Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC. So, will this new entry in the series deliver an attacking boost or will it flounder in defense? Well, it’s available right now so we can find out.
Available to download now on Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC, NBA 2K20 sees 2K promising a new shine and polish to their player motion engine. Mechanically there are many things to consider too, player size and bulk that will affect their foot planting and these affect the changing of direction quickly and effectively.
And then there is also the MyPLAYER builder, letting you progress faster than ever before, whilst another first sees the WNBA arrive in NBA 2K20 with all 12 teams from the women’s game in place.
Further still is the deep MyTEAM – the fantasy card collecting option that will keep you going back for more, with everything overseen by a dynamic broadcast quality presentation with more than 60,000 lines of dialogue and more than 2000 specific crowd reactions.
In fact, it could be said that 2K have gone the whole hog with the launch of NBA 2K20.
“Each year, the team at Visual Concepts aims to push the boundaries of what’s possible with basketball video games,” said Greg Thomas, president of Visual Concepts. “With NBA 2K20, we’re reaching new heights in all aspects of the game and can’t wait to play alongside our community of basketball fans and gamers.”
