Yes, Tesla vs Lovecraft, out today on Xbox One, PS4 and Switch, strangely is based around the latter. Famous scientist Nikola Tesla is just about to complete his greatest invention, but to his dismay novelist H.P Lovecraft has chosen to ruin the occasion by sending his monstrous minions to burn down Tesla’s laboratory!
There’s only one thing for it. Tesla must embark upon a journey of massive proportions, killing the eldritch abominations that Lovecraft has sent his way. To do this, Nikola will be taking a ride in his Mech, dishing out mayhem to any creature that opposes him.
This is where you come in, as you make the most of Tesla’s creative mind in disposing of the hordes of enemies using a variety of weapons, from the Death Ray Gun to the iconic Tesla Coil, in frantic twin-stick shooting.
The sheer power of the freakish monsters that you will be facing can sometimes be too much for even a mechanised robot to handle, and therefore the dash manoeuvre that Tesla can use will come in useful also, if only for running every Polyp and Shaggarth into the ground.
It may have a unusual and impossible story, but what makes Tesla vs Lovecraft so fun is the colourful, frenzied action which you will find within.
