After being announced as coming to Xbox back in September, fans have been not so patiently waiting for anymore news about the port. The wait is officially over though as GoldenEye 007 is now available on Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
GoldenEye in the cinemas marked a transition period for James Bond. In stepped Pierce Brosnan as the secret agent, and the series was brought kicking and screaming into the ‘90s. The videogame adaptation on the Nintendo 64 did a similar thing and changed the FPS and local multiplayer landscape literally overnight.
All the classic gameplay is here, updated and improved for modern systems. Take James Bond from the top of the Byelomorye Dam to the streets in a tank, a helicopter on the back of a train and even into the jungle wilderness. All your favourite levels are here in the single player mode with updated visuals and updated gameplay.
Then of course, there is the legendary multiplayer for up to four players locally. Choose from characters all across the James Bond lore and create dream team deathmatches. House rules dictate that there is no OddJob to be chosen at any point ever.
GoldenEye 007 is on the Xbox Store now but works a little differently than a simple purchase. If you own a copy of Rare Replay digitally then GoldenEye 007 is free for you. And if you are an Xbox Game Pass subscriber then you own both Rare Replay digitally and GoldenEye 007. There doesn’t appear to be a way to purchase GoldenEye 007, so treat it as DLC for Rare Replay and that should help you understand what you need.
