mothmen 1966

Whilst this young Brit remembers 1966 for one thing and one thing only – the coming home of football – the development team at LCB Game Studios wish to recall the Leonid meteor shower over North America in November of the very same year. This is the setting for their self-described ‘pixel pulp’ title Mothemn 1966: where ‘pixel pulp’ describes a visual novel that combines 20th century pulp fiction with 1980s computer graphics.

Arriving today on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, PC and Nintendo Switch, for those of you who enjoy a thrilling narrative with the opportunity to sculpt it how you see fit, read on. During the aforementioned meteor shower, the unlikely quartet of a young couple, paranormal investigator and gas shop owner get wrapped up in a chilling conspiracy right on their doorstep, opening up all manner of paranormal and classic ‘men in black’ threats.

This rag-tag band of heroes rely upon you – the omnipotent player – to make the decisions, solve a number of mind-bending puzzles, and ultimately unravel the mystery behind the comet-lit backdrop. You will be deciding the fate of these characters; the power truly is at your fingertips.

Mothmen 1966 is only but the first in a trilogy of pixel pulps that LCB Game Studios intend to put out, so is hoping to make a real impact when introducing budding detectives to this exciting genre.

Mothmen 1966 is now available on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One for £6.79 – you can pick up a copy, if you dare, on the Xbox Store. Alternatively, the game is available on PS5, PS4, PC and Switch too!

Stay tuned for our review.

The first volume comprises three games: Mothmen 1966, Varney Lake, and Bahnsen Knights.

I'm an avid gamer who will play pretty much anything... but stick an open world or adventure game in front of me and I'm more than happy.
