EpiXR Games are beginning to make a bit of a name for themselves. With the Aery series in their back catalogue, and Life of Fly kicking around alongside it, they know how to make a pretty relaxing, pretty chilled affair. So we’re not really sure what they are up to with Murder Diaries.

Available to purchase and download right now on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, first thoughts concerning Murder Diaries point to the some disastrous scene, as a killer goes on the rampage, mowing down all in front of them. We’d guess that you’d be the detective on the scene, attempting to make sense of it all.

But then we look at the trailer and screenshots and understand that this IS an EpiXR Games game, and much like those which have gone before it, there is a bit of serenity in the house.

At least, that’s the vibe we’re getting from Murder Diaries, yet the blurb that accompanies it still tries to point to the wicked.

Anyways, this will have you attempting to figure out what exactly has gone on (like we suspected), but instead of playing a character, you’re seemingly following the narration and life of a man and his thoughts. It’s up to you to piece together the tale, floating freely from one scenario to the next, grabbing clues and filling yourself with lore. In that sense, we’re well up for what it delivers, and will be sure to have everything detailed in our – spoiler free – review.

Should you wish to join us for a murder mystery that is unlike any other, get over to the Xbox Store right now.

Game Description:

In Murder Diaries you abstractly follow the narration of a young man through his life and his thoughts. This leads you straight into a murder mystery unlike you have ever seen before. Figure out what happened, explore fascinating landscapes and abstract environments and enjoy the thrilling storytelling. Collect pieces of the story while freely floating through related environments and immerse yourself into an intriguing story filled with blood and murder. A must have for any true fan of thrillers and anyone how enjoys a murder mystery that goes beyond the normal story telling.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
