We can’t get enough of narrative-driven adventures, and it seems like the rest of the gaming community agrees with us. At least if you judge it by the multitude of those journeys which have released in recent times. The latest is the poignant storytelling experience of Hindsight – a game that moves from a PC background over to Xbox and PlayStation consoles.

Available today on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4 and PS5, as well as having been available on Steam for a few months already, Hindsight has been put together by Team Hindsight (headed up by Joel McDonald), published by the prolific team at Annapurna Interactive – Yes, they behind the likes of Stray, Twelve Minutes, Donut County and A Memoir Blue

Hindsight is the latest to draw us gamers in, playing out as a narrative exploration game which goes about spanning the entirety of a woman’s life. It comes about just after the loss of her mother, all as she is found trying to make sense of it all.

It’ll be up to you to revisit her childhood home, sift through any personal belongings and step through windows in which you’ll discover memories that have been frozen in time. Hindsight is a game that will let you play at your own pace, slowing things down so that you can fully pay attention to the little things that are left behind.

If that sound good, then well, we’d highly advise you to read our review because yes, it is good. In fact – spoiler alert – we gave it a 4.5/5 and mentioned how the story was brilliant, how the visuals were superb and how it all felt very unique.

From there, get yourself over to the Xbox Store and pick up the game on Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S. Alternatively, it’s on Steam for PC or the PlayStation Store. You should expect to pay around £12.49.

Game Description:

What if the physical objects of everyday life, the possessions we hold close, were actual windows to the past? Peer into distant memories and unseen futures in Hindsight. From the creator of Prune, Hindsight is a narrative exploration game spanning the entirety of a woman’s life, from birth to present day, as she tries to make sense of it all. Revisit her childhood home, sort through personal belongings, and step through windows to memories frozen in time. Hindsight asks you to slow down and pay attention to the little things left behind. Piece these things together and shift your viewpoint until you find just the right perspective to pull you deeper into the past. Long forgotten memories and dreams cascade into one another. Linger as long as you wish, but sooner or later you must come back to the present. What will you take with you? And what will you leave behind?
