We’ve been holding out for the next instalment in the Psychonauts saga since 2005, but now, some 16 years later our dreams have come true with Psychonauts 2 on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox Game Pass.

A launch into Xbox Game Pass is what Xbox Game Studios love to action and that is the case here with Double Fine’s Psychonauts 2 – a game which looks to build on the utter love created from their original release all those years ago.

Available to purchase and download right now, Psychonauts 2 comes to Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S with much hype – as you’d expect – as players get the chance to join the franchise protagonist, Razputin “Raz” Aquato as he looks to live out his dream of joining the Psychonauts.

Priced at £54.99 should you not wish to make the most of the Xbox Game Pass love, Psychonauts 2 will deliver the quirky, the mysterious and the mad as we get to head off on a newly constructed platform adventure that is, pretty much, like no other.

With the creativity and power of Double Fine behind Psychonauts 2, you should expect a game of the highest quality; one that is constantly able to deliver danger, excitement and a ton of humour throughout its run. You know, heading through the minds of friends and foes was never going to be a straightforward staid affair!

The key features of the game include:

  • Experience an imaginative, cinematic story that mixes humor and intrigue, brought to you by legendary game designer Tim Schafer (Grim Fandango, Brütal Legend, Broken Age).
  • Explore unique environments using Raz’s ability to dive into people’s brains to battle their inner demons, unlock hidden memories, and resolve their emotional baggage.
  • Leap acrobatically through the air, traversing tightropes and trapezes in a varied, challenging, and joyful platforming experience.
  • Wield a powerful array of psychic powers to blast, burn and levitate things, or even slow down time itself to solve environmental puzzles and battle strange enemies.

Our full review of Psychonauts 2 is ongoing and will be with you soon, but as massive fans of the first game, we’re pretty sure this is going to be right up there in the same iconic stakes – we probably wouldn’t have included Psychonauts 2 in our Up Next article detailing the finest games of August 2021, if it wasn’t. Stay tuned for how that review plays out in the days ahead.

For now though you can get access to Raz’s mindbending adventure by grabbing a copy of Psychonauts 2 for Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S from the Xbox Store. Remember, you don’t even need to pay a penny to play it if you’re an Xbox Game Pass subscriber.

Game Description:

Razputin “Raz” Aquato, trained acrobat and powerful young psychic, has realized his lifelong dream of joining the international psychic espionage organization known as the Psychonauts! But these psychic super spies are in trouble. Their leader hasn’t been the same since he was rescued from a kidnapping, and what’s worse, there’s a mole hiding in headquarters. Combining quirky missions and mysterious conspiracies, Psychonauts 2 is a platform-adventure game with cinematic style and tons of customizable psychic powers. Psychonauts 2 serves up danger, excitement and laughs in equal measure as players guide Raz on a journey through the minds of friends and foes on a quest to defeat a murderous psychic villain.
