The skateboarding evolution continues as Skater XL gets new map and content

We’ve already seen the team at Easy Day Studios get right behind their skateboarding experience with a steady flow of mods and community created content helping push the base game to new levels. And that is where the latest map and content drops appear from for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4 and PC players to play around with.

Skater XL was a little bare bones when it first arrived, but since launch back in July 2020, the team has been hard at work to ensure that those flipping and tricking across all formats are well catered for. We’ve already had the integration of community mods in to the console scene and that has opened the line for even more great work – namely in the way of a new map and 50 new pieces of gear.

Accessible from the in-game Mod Browser, we find a new Warehouse level that has been created by the one and only Yaky, a longtime community member with a bit of a flair. This level features a unique ambience that recreates an outdoor skatepark yet in an indoor setting, as palm trees line the usual traditional street and skatepark elements. Full of ledges, hips, rails, and quarterpipes, Yaky’s creation has then been taken by the Easy Day Studios team to be optimised in terms of visuals, with all geography or features staying true to the creator’s original vision.

Check out the new Warehouse level for Skater XL on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4 and PC below.

Skater XL can now be picked up on all formats (Xbox Store right here) and whilst it doesn’t really work the same ideas as the stunningly good Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 Remastered, if you’re looking for a more realistic skate sim, it is one to at least consider.

Let us know your thoughts though. Are these Mods the way forward for games like Skater XL? Should the community have a bigger say in all games? The comments section is down below.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.
