There is something deeply unnerving in this latest Ratalaika Games title. Could it be the creepy synths playing in the background, the mysterious story or even the visuals themselves? It’s probably all three. And it is time for you to find your creepiest part as The Song Out of Space releases today on Xbox, PlayStation, PC and Nintendo Switch.
In this point-and-click adventure, you play as one of two federal detectives sent to investigate the death of twelve astronomers during the Cold War. Your primary focus is to rule out any Russian involvement. Definitely a sign of the times.
What they instead find is something from beyond our world. You must uncover the secrets in a town where everyone is hiding something and avoid this disaster from ever happening again.
Your choice of character depends on how easy your task is. Choosing agent Catherine Armstrong, your scientific skills are much higher, but your ability to be taken seriously as a woman in the 1960s takes a hit. Or you can choose Stuart Ross, a veteran who is much more street-smart. Your initial decision will change how the story unfolds.
As well as branching narratives, The Song Out of Space also features:
- 3 investigation routes, 4 endings, and dozens of secrets to reveal.
- Unique retro visual style that mixes pixel art with photography
- Original 80’s creepy synth soundtrack.
- Click-and-point mechanics.
We’re not sure Ratalaika Games have really dabbled with horror games, but there is definitely something creepy about this one. The Song Out of Space is available to download now priced at £4.99 on the Xbox Store. For those who are keen point-and-clickers, grab it quick for a discount down to £3.99.
