You just need to take one look at the keyart, the screenshots or the trailers to understand what Hoa is all about. This is one beautiful puzzle platformer; one that will have you wandering through a gorgeous hand-painted world that oozes with quality and a relaxing ambience. It’s also now available on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch and PC – so that’s good!

Available to purchase and download right now on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch and PC through both Steam and GOG, Hoa has been put together by the well skilled team at Skrollcat Studio, before being helped to market by those at PM Studios.

It’s a game that has been teased plenty in recent months, but now it’s time for the teams to deliver, with launch onto the console and PC scene with something that could well provide an utterly breathtaking experience.

Priced at £12.49 from the Xbox Store (although you may find a slight change in that on other formats), Hoa sees you join the titular main character as you work your way through a multitude of environments, taking in the captivating, immersive storytelling, listening in on the glorious soundtrack and exploring the world around you, sneaking into the nooks and crannies that have been crafted.

Magical creatures will help fill out your tale, as will a host of puzzles, with everything coming together to ensure you are taken back to where it all began.

The key features include:

  • – Breathtaking hand-painted art: Step into a painting that lives – explore a vast world of meticulously crafted sceneries of stunning hand-painted art.
  • – Outstanding original soundtrack: Captivatingly story-telling and emotionally-charged, Hoa’s exceptional score, originally composed and live-recorded, brings its world to life with a touch of nostalgia.
  • – Lovely creatures: Keep an eye out for delightful magical creatures along the way. Most of them want to be friends, some might even tell you a little story or two. Cuteness guaranteed.
  • – Gentle, yet compelling flow: Navigate with a keen eye and solve exploration-based puzzles. Relax to the organic rhythm of subtle storytelling while being intrigued by endless little wonders. Be a child – it’s easier and harder than it may seem.

Hello there! We still cannot believe that Hoa is finally coming to the world. The game is out, meaning the joy and fun we had with this project now belong to everyone. Just like that, it is already an immense happiness to us, a dream come true. We hope nothing more for our small game than for it to be a beautiful little thing that warms your heart. For having followed Hoa’s tiny footsteps from her early days, for coming with our little character on her little adventure, from the bottom of our hearts: Thank you.” – Skrollcat Studio

We won’t lie, we’re massively excited to see Hoa release on console and PC and will be hands-on with it immediately. Stay tuned as we deliver a full review of the game and how it plays out on Xbox Series X|S in the coming days.

If you’re as immediately taken as we are though, you’ll find hoa available from the Xbox Store for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S – the latter of which sees it fully optimised for next-gen gaming goodness. It’s also present on PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch and PC through those Steam and GOG storefronts.

Game Description:

Hoa is a beautiful puzzle-platforming game that features breathtaking hand-painted art, lovely music, and a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere. An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.
