Love a city builder? Fancy heading back to medieval times? Townsmen: A Kingdom Rebuilt is possibly the game for you and today HandyGames have confirmed a launch on Xbox One and PS4, all while detailing some new Seaside empire DLC for Nintendo Switch and PC.

Currently available on Nintendo Switch and PC, Townsmen: A Kingdom Rebuilt will be coming to Xbox One and PS4 giving the opportunity for us console gamers to grow a village into a grand medieval empire; one with a thriving economy and happy villagers. We’ll be found hunting down mining spots, harvesting the crops in the farms and collect coins as taxes from the townsfolk. Further to that, we’ll be able to build jousting grounds, taverns, marketplaces and fully beautify our cities with impressive statues, magnificent monuments, and lush gardens.

In fact, all manner of medieval city building life will be able to be taken in, but as always there will be dangers. Seem bandits will never be far away, looking to plunder and pillage peaceful towns, so erecting barracks, guard towers and recruiting brave soldiers should just about ensure protection for all citizens. At the end of the day though, it is us who will rule the entire empire from our castle, and making sure the inhabitants have fun, stay happy and remain safe, is the number one goal.

Whilst we’ll be sure to let you know exactly when Townsmen: A Kingdom Rebuilt will hit Xbox One and PS4, you can be sure it’ll also include the new The Seaside Empire DLC that is fast due to hit Nintendo Switch and PC.

The Seaside Empire DLC is packed full of great features, letting us enjoy the new Mediterranean setting, build a harbour along the coast to increase trade, and dive into the all-new story events. It’ll also add another layer of gameplay with the introduction of difficult moral choices and decisions in the new short story events.

Features include:

  • Completely new Mediterranean tileset including several new maps
  • New scenery like beaches and vegetation
  • 6 new scenarios
  • 9 endless mode maps including 48 random story events
  • Unique skins for all buildings
  • Choice & Consequence story events
  • 11 new buildings including 2 new castles
  • 26 new decorations
  • New songs for your enjoyment!

Townsmen: A Kingdom Rebuilt: The Seaside Empire will be available in early 2020 for PC and Nintendo Switch, whilst the whole thing will also receive a fully bundled release on Xbox One and PS4 that includes the base game, as well as the new DLC.

Will you be keeping an eye out for it? Let us know in the comments, but you can be sure it’ll provide a completely different experience to the likes of Cities: Skylines! But hey, different is good, yeah?

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
