If you’ve been created thanks to inspiration from some of the very best games the world has ever seen, then chances are there will be just a little bit of hype surrounding the finer details. Today, Stranded Sails – Explorers of the Cursed Islands gets a release window alongside some tasty deets, as it prepares to launch onto Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo Switch.

Coming in October 2019 thanks to a combined team effort from Merge Games, rokapublish and Lemonbomb Entertainment, Stranded Sails will see you given the opportunity to become an explorer of the Cursed Islands, with both a digital option available to all, and then a collectible Signature Edition hitting PS4 and Switch players a little later down the line.

Stranded Sails has picked up a great deal of interest as one of 2019’s most wanted games on Steam — with over 75,000 wishlists already in place, and so the chance to take in the open-world exploration farming adventure which merges a wealth of discovery alongside compelling exploration gameplay on console is one we don’t want to miss.

Ship-wrecked on a mysterious archipelago, it’s up to you to survive in any way you can, as you solve the island’s mysteries and find a way to escape. This will see you searching out resources and planting crops, establishing your own farm to feed survivors and playing around with multiple survival mechanics. You can also drop in a far-reaching journey which has you undertaking a vast adventure spanning numerous islands, all of which will ensure an abundance of treasure lies waiting.

Stranded Sails – Explorers of the Cursed Islands has taken inspiration from the Harvest Moon series, that of The Legend of Zelda and the rather brilliant My Time At Portia, twisting things enough to see its own signature style of tilt-shift visuals, survival elements, exploration, and story-driven quests are of appeal.

Key features of Stranded Sails on Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo Switch include:

  • Experience an open-world adventure full of quests and discovery
  • Farm and cook to survive! Provide food for your crew and improve their level of happiness, whilst experimenting with different ingredients to discover new dishes
  • Manage the creation and expansion of your crew’s camp and prove your skills as a shipbuilder
  • Explore a diverse array of different islands by foot or boat on your travels to find a range of tools and treasure
  • Fight against supernatural dangers and solve the secrets of the cursed islands

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
