Honestly, the new additions to Game Pass have been pretty slow in recent weeks, with just a smattering of one-off games coming to the service. That changes today as a triple treat of gaming treasures turn up on Game Pass for Xbox and PC.
There’s a pretty high chance that you’ll have a Game Pass subscription in hand if you’re even the most casual of Xbox player. The scheme allowing access to a host of brilliant Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S games for one low monthly price. The fact that it stays fresh with new additions – and removals – on a fairly regular basis helps matters.Â
May 2023 hasn’t been a stellar Game Pass month though, with just the odd new drop being added in – the magical Planet of Lana being the highlight. That is until today as three new games arrive on the service, each of which are very much different to the next.
What’s new to Game Pass today?
So, we’ve got Railway Empire 2 making a debut on Xbox, releasing as a Day One Game Pass addition, with a similar launch occurring for Cassette Beasts too. But there’s one more being added to those, with Massive Chalice proving to be, well, massive.Â
Railway Empire 2
Railway Empire 2 follows on from the original Railway Empire to release on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, whisking players off on the express train to fortune. It comes from Gaming Minds Studio and Kalypso Media to build on the first game in the series, with bigger, more detailed, much more lived in maps than before. The plan is for you to traverse the US and Europe in hope of discovering your riches, with a deep campaign, various scenarios and cooperative multiplayer in place.
You can grab Railway Empire 2 via the Xbox Store right now, via Game Pass or through a £41.74 asking price. There’s a Digital Deluxe Edition available if you are sold on the railways too.Â
Cassette Beasts
Cassette Beasts is another that launches Day One onto Xbox and Game Pass. Having previously launched on PC, Cassette Beasts will have you adventuring, battling and transforming, all as you go monster hunting, before recording them to cassette tape, ready for battle.
Expect to find Cassette Beasts playable on Xbox from 4pm today. There’s already a PC Store page up if you prefer to play through there.
Massive Chalice
And then we get to the third and final Game Pass addition of the day, as Massive Chalice adds in some tactical strategy to proceedings. Having first released back in 2015 via the Double Fine Productions team, Massive Chalice puts you in the shoes of the Immortal Ruler of the Nation, as you – and your troops – go and take the fight to a mysterious enemy.
Massive Chalice has previously run through Games With Gold (remember when GWG was a prominent player?) and so there’s a chance that veteran Xbox players will already have this in their library. If not, play through Game Pass will help save you the need to splash out on the usual £15.99 price tag.
And that, as they say in the trade, is your lot in regards the new Game Pass additions today.
So what’s next for Game Pass?
There is more to come in regards Game Pass movers in the final week of May, with Farworld Pioneers and Chicory: A Colorful Tale both set to arrive on the service come May 30th.
From there, the usual leavers will up and shift out of Game Pass on May 31st, with five games confirmed to be leaving. Eurupa Universalis (PC), Evil Genius 2, FIFA 21, Floppy Knights and Lawn Mowing Simulator are all on the way out. If you haven’t yet played those games, we urge you to do so with immediate effect.Â
Let us know what you think of the three new treasures to have arrived on Game Pass today. Which will you be playing first?
