Surprises are great and even though the rumours hinted at a pretty swift release for Apex Legends, it’s always nice to see a new game just pop up in our digital stores. And that pop up has now occurred as the free-to-play Battle Royale experience set in the Titanfall universe that is Apex Legends is now available.
Free to download on Xbox One, PS4 and from the Origin Store on PC, Apex Legends from EA and Respawn Entertainment ditches the Titanfall mechs that we have grown to love, and puts us in the shoes of human and robotic ‘Legends’.
Each of these guys come with their own weapons and specials, with EA promising that the Apex roster will start to grow and expand, with the gameplay centring around 60 players battling it out in the hunt for loot and kills. Team play is also possible, with groups of up to 3 catered for. With Year 1 consisting of 4 seasons, each kicking off in March, June, September and December, there is seemingly going to be much to play for too, with a Battle Pass, new Legends, new Weapons and new Loot all promised.
As you may expect for any free-to-play title, Apex Legends comes with a number of paid options, and even though the standard game is free, if you are liking what you see then that wallet could well take a battering.
We currently see the Apex Legends Founder and Starter Packs coming in at £23.99 and £3.99 respectively, with the former delivering 2000 Apex Coins, an exclusive Legendary Demon Hemlok Weapon Skin, 3 Exclusive Roughneck Character Skins (1 each for Wraith, Bloodhound, and Gibraltar), 3 Exclusive Banner Frames (1 each for Wraith, Bloodhound, and Gibraltar) and a singular Exclusive Founder’s Badge. The £3.99 option will kickstart your game with 600 Apex Coins, an Exclusive Animated Fresh Meat RE45 Weapon Skin and the Exclusive Feeding Frenzy Badge.
The coins will be essential to your game, used to purchase new customization items for characters and weapons, cosmetic Apex Packs, or to unlock new characters through the in-game store. Coins can also be purchased alone with 1000 coins available for ÂŁ7.19, with multiple options moving up to ÂŁ71.99 for 10,000. Like I say, prepare for the wallet to get smashed.
If you wish to get your download of Apex Legends moving then Xbox One players should head to the Xbox Store. Our full review will be able to give you more info about the game – it’s coming in the days ahead.
