It’s been pretty much 18 months since Saber Interactive threatened to tear up the NBA rule sheet with NBA Playgrounds. Now though, after teaming up with the might of 2K, Saber are back – with NBA 2K Playgrounds 2.
Available right now on Xbox One (with a PS4, Switch and PC option open to those who wish to go down that route), NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 brings arcade street balling back to the mainstream with delightful visuals, a huge roster, and the chance to ball without limits.
Priced up at £24.99, NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 is firmly set in the mid-ranger price bracket, refusing to dip into the freebie waters of 3on3 Freestyle, whilst standing a good 3-pointer away from the bigger, more realistic basketball games on the market. In fact, that could well be a perfect place to be as the arcade style of gameplay will no doubt draw down some NBA aficionados in the hope of finding something a bit more ‘fun’.
The promise of four player online matchups will appeal to many, whilst the new courts (sorry, ‘playgrounds’), that Saber and 2K have integrated in will no doubt be decent fun too. Dedicated servers with the added bonus of improved online matchmaking over the previous game are essential additions, but basically put, if you like a bit of basketball and wish to move away from the tried and tested sims, then NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 will surely be worth a little look.
Get yourself over to your favourite digital store right now. We recommended pinging a ball at the Xbox Store in order to get an Xbox One download in.
