If you’re after beauty amid a moving adventure then Arise: A Simple Story looks set to be the game for you, especially now that a fully confirmed release date has become known.

Coming about via the Barcelona-based development team at Piccolo, with Techland Publishing behind the promotion arm, Arise will be hitting Xbox One, PS4 and PC via the Epic Games Store on December 3rd 2019.

A game that is all about the emotional journey through the life of two people, seeing memories come alive and time bending to the player’s will, each chapter of Arise will represent a specific turning point in a man’s long life, a life filled with relatable moments of joy and sorrow.

Promising to deliver a heartwarming love story that will have players experiencing diverse powerful emotions – both of the protagonist and their own – your time with Arise will begin just as our character’s life ends, in limbo. It’ll then be up to you to relive the most crucial events of his life, in order to make your way towards the mesmerizing light that is found beckoning from a mountaintop. Thankfully you’ll be able to utilise your newfound gift of time manipulation to help you overcome the many obstacles along the way.

“Arise is an emotional journey through a lifetime full of bliss and sorrow, ultimately a tale everyone can relate to. It allows you to explore the many seasons of life illustrated by evocative environments, and relive memories with the help of a unique time manipulation gameplay mechanic. Our goal is to let players reminisce and reflect on their own lives as they progress through the story,” said Alexis Corominas, one of the founders of Piccolo.

With a digital soundtrack that has been composed by David Garcia – BAFTA award winner in Audio Achievement and a nomination in the Best Music category for is work on Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice – and a small team at Piccolo who are oozing passion, Arise looks set to provide one hell of an experience when it drops onto Xbox One, PS4 and PC in December.

We will as always remind you when that December 3rd release date drops, but in order to build the anticipation, you should certainly be taking in the trailer below.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
