2026's Best Games

Latest Game Pass additions are all about the creativity

Creativity is the keyword of today, as two titles arrive on Game Pass today that encourage you to unleash your artistic impulses.

They are Chicory: A Colorful Tale (Console, PC) and Farworld Pioneers (Console).

Chicory: A Colorful Tale

Chicory: A Colorful Tale has been attracting critical acclaim wherever it goes. Most notably on Switch, it’s been receiving stellar reviews and the odd award, and we can’t wait to see if the charm translates to Xbox.

A top-down adventure game set inside a colouring book, Chicory: A Colorful Tale has you solving puzzles with a swish of your giant paintbrush. There’s no problem that can’t be solved with a change of colour, as you dip into paints and turn scary forests into pink wonderlands.

There are over a hundred characters to interact with in this ten-hour-plus adventure, as you aim to find Chicory, the last wielder of the magical brush. Expect a review ASAP.

Farworld Pioneers

Less cute and dreamy is Farworld Pioneers, which takes a more engineering-led approach to creativity. It was inspired by Minecraft, as the lead designer loved making constructions, but was frustrated that they had no real use after they were made.

Thus was born Farworld Pioneers, where the buildings do actually serve a use. AI settlers move into them (damn squatters), and you can delegate all the tasks to them that you don’t want to do. That’s what AI was really made for.

There are bosses, secrets, an entire tech tree to unlock, and just as you feel like you are completing an area, you can build a spaceship and shuttle to the next planet. There doesn’t seem to be a limit to how much you could play Farworld Pioneers. Sounds hazardous to our free time.

As a note, Farworld Pioneers is due out today, but is not on the Game Pass service at the time of writing. Expect it later today.

There are some games leaving Game Pass

The end of the month also means a few games are due to leave. Say your goodbyes now, as we are losing Europa Universalis, Evil Genius 2: World Domination, FIFA 21, Floppy Knights and Lawn Mowing Simulator on the 31st of May.

You’ll obviously still be able to play those games that are moving out from the service, it’s just that the Xbox Store will demand your cash for access.
