Storm Boy started out life as a novella, before spawning a film and stage adaptation, but now Colin Thiele’s beloved children’s book has spawned a game that’s just launched on a multitude of platforms. Want to know more about the fascinating bond it portrays?

Arriving on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC, Storm Boy has brought its tale of a boy and his pet pelican to the gaming world, for a very modest price too – it’s only £4.99 on the Microsoft Store, should you wish to pick it up. This interactive story is set on the beaches of South Australia, near the mouth of the Murray River, and that’s where the titular protagonist rescues some orphaned pelican chicks. One of these orphans grows up to be the kid’s faithful companion and pet, going by the name of Mr. Percival.

As well as exploring the splendid coastline of South Australia, players will be able to control Storm Boy and the lovely pelican through some of the key moments from the classic tale. These are infused with entertaining and relaxing mini-games for us to enjoy; such as sailing, playing fetch, cockle hunting, bird feeding, and other activities.

Is the heartfelt story of Storm Boy the type of experience you’re after? Have you perhaps read the book that it’s based on? Get in touch and let us know!
