Explore the vast, beautiful, dangerous world of Grounded on Xbox Game Pass, Game Preview and Play Anywhere

There are many vast, hundred-hour long adventures available in the gaming world. But very few of them shrink you down to the size of an ant and leave you to explore, build and survive in the harsh lands of your own backyard. But then, very few games are Grounded from Obsidian Entertainment.

Available to purchase and download right now on Xbox One and PC, running the Xbox Game Pass route, making the most of Xbox Play Anywhere, AND initially working as an Xbox Game Preview title, Grounded is the latest masterpiece to drop from Obsidian, following on from the likes of The Outer Worlds and many other iconic titles.

Priced at £24.99, or free for those smart cookies who have an Xbox Game Pass subscription in place, Grounded comes to console and PC via the Xbox Game Preview program, allowing the community to help Obsidian navigate through the trickiest of periods to ensure that the end product releases in the very best state possible. It’s something we have seen many games utilise over the years – notably ARK: Survival Evolved – but you should be aware that this is not the finished product and is instead a work in progress… expect bugs, expect glitches, expect changes.

But what is Grounded? Well, it’s one of the most hyped cooperative survival adventures of recent times, seeing you shrunk down to the size of an insect before being left to get on with your life, exploring your own backyard, building structures to ensure you survive and attempting to just ensure safety among the world of the insect. You’ll have to fight for that survival though. Naturally.

Initially Obsidian will look to put the basics in place, kicking off an ever-expanding storyline, letting us play around in three different biomes – the grasslands, the hedge and the haze – along with allowing both solo play and online cooperative fun. There will also be a couple of weapon tiers in place – with relevant armour too – at least ten insect types to take in, and, most fun, an arachnophobia mode. Yeah, spiders.

We’ll be checking Grounded out on Xbox One now that it is available in Game Preview and will be sure to deliver some thoughts your way over the coming weeks. A full review will come about once Obsidian decide it’s time to push out full release.  If you wish to join us in taking in some backyard fun then the Xbox Store will provide you the download you are looking for. Let us know in the comments what you think of things. Just remember though, this is a Game Preview title – expect bugs. Both in terms of gaming mechanics and insect.

Grounded Game Preview Description:

This game is a work in progress. It may or may not change over time or release as a final product. Purchase only if you are comfortable with the current state of the unfinished game. The world is a vast, beautiful, and dangerous place – especially when you have been shrunken to the size of an ant. Explore, build, and survive together in this cooperative survival-adventure. Can you thrive alongside the hordes of giant insects, fighting to survive the perils of the backyard? Join our community and help shape the future of Grounded in Xbox Game Preview.
