Tactical, roguelike, murky and macabre – Rogue Lords is set to release on Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC in 2021. Wanna catch a glimpse of the first gameplay trailer showing it all in action?
Debuting at the recent 2020 PC Gaming Show, NACON have revealed the very first gameplay trailer for Rogue Lords – a new tactical rogue-like title that is being co-developed by Cyanide and Leikir Studio.
Due to hit Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC in 2021, Rogue Lords is set in a murky and macabre 17th-century dystopia named The New World, casting players as The Devil in an age when Evil has been defeated and the world has been left out of balance. Unable to physically manifest in The New World, The Devil turns to his more faithful disciples to spread darkness across the land. Dracula, Bloody Mary, the Headless Horseman, the White Lady and other evil icons unite in an unholy crusade against the Demon Hunters and cultists who conquered the forces of evil once before.
With that setting in place, you’ll get the opportunity to explore a 3D map thanks to a team of three Disciples of Evil, sowing chaos and corruption, making important choices and engaging in challenging turn-based combat; combat in which outright defeat means it’s game over and the end of the story. Until the next time.
In Rogue Lords, each and every run is unique, with new paths, new encounters and new opportunities coming to the fore with every playthrough. Players might choose to burn a farm to the ground on one run, or spare the land and recruit its residents to The Devil’s cause on another. Some choices will be riskier than others though and the disciples’ talents will change the outcome of the encounter. For instance, Dracula can calmly persuade mortals with his vampiric charm while the Headless Horseman might end the conversation through sheer terror alone.
And just as all seems lost, you’ll be able to draw upon The Devil’s powers, using your harvested souls to transcend the bounds of the game world and cheat. Enemy health bars, luck and other variables can all be manipulated at will, letting you tilt the balance of power in Evil’s favour – literally changing up the game as you go.
Rogue Lords will hit Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC (Steam) in 2021. But until then, take a little look at the gameplay found in the trailer below.Â
