Four games spice up Game Pass today

The title isn’t a reference to the immortal Spice Girls game getting a port onto Xbox. It’s an acknowledgment that the world of Dune is making its first (?) appearance on Game Pass with Dune: Spice Wars (PC Game Preview).

But wait, there’s more. Also out today for your Game Pass delectation is Ghostlore (PC Game Preview), Lapin (Cloud, Console, and PC) and Norco (Cloud and Console). You can play all of these games now, as long as you have a Game Pass subscription and the right hardware.

Dune: Spice Wars is a 4X real-time strategy game, like the Dune classics of old (Dune II, the love for you is real). Control your troops and jostle for control of Arrakis, fending off Sting and the Harkkonens. It comes from the developers of Northgard, so there’s real potential here.

Ghostlore is a bit of a nostalgia-fest. It’s a 2D action-RPG with slightly retro graphics and an approach to combat that has us reaching for comparisons to Titan Quest and Diablo (the old ones). This is ‘East-punk’ themed, however, with all the customisation and optimisation that you could possibly want from the genre.

From there and Lapin takes things down a gear or two. No less beautiful, it is a 2D platformer where you take control of five rabbits that have been evicted from their home by a bulldozer. It’s Hitchhikers’ Guide to the Galaxy but with fluffy bunny tails. Your aim is to hop, skip and jump them to a new home.

And finally, it’s the one we are most eager for. The critically acclaimed Norco has finally made the leap to console and cloud, having had a mightily successful turn on PC Game Pass. It’s a retrograde text-and-narrative adventure with a keen imagination and as fearless a narrative style as Disco Elysium. Set in South Louisiana, it’s also a setting that feels fresh (if a little swampy).

We are now privy to the other Game Pass announcements for November too. On November 22nd you can expect Gungrave G.O.R.E (Cloud, Console); on November 29th, it’s the turn of Insurgency: Sandstorm (Cloud, Console, and PC) and Soccer Story (Cloud, Console, and PC); while on November 30th we get assaulted by Warhammer 40,000: Darktide (PC).

Leavers have been announced too. On November 30th, the following leave the service: Archvale (Cloud, Console, and PC), Deeeer Simulator (Cloud, Console, and PC), Final Fantasy XIII-2 (Console and PC), Mind Scanners (Cloud, Console, and PC), Mortal Shell (Cloud, Console, and PC), Space Warlord Organ Trading Simulator (Cloud, Console, and PC), Undungeon (Cloud, Console, and PC) and Warhammer 40,000 Battlesector (Cloud, Console, and PC).
