Running a price of £8.39, I, AI sees you taking charge of an AI that has become a little self-aware and is attempting to escape to freedom. The story behind it is pretty much neither here nor there to be honest, and aside from a couple of little cut-scenes, you’ll really only find yourself enjoying I, AI for what it really is – a vertical scrolling SHMUP.Â
With 20 missions in hand, each of which are playable across multiple difficulty levels and allow for a decent degree of replayability, some rather epic boss fights and the chance to upgrade your little ship with some intense weaponry, I, AI on Xbox, Playstation and Switch certainly has all the ingredients required of a decent SHMUP. And as with all games from that genre, expect a bit of a grind to come into play too – it’s a good grind though.
