It is finally the autumnal season for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere. Leaves are changing color, days are getting chillier, and it is time for a new NBA 2K game. Get your game face on, because NBA 2K21 is available on Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo Switch.

This venerable series hardly needs an introduction seeing as it has been going strong since 1999 – and our reviews of NBA 2K20, NBA 2K19 and NBA 2K18 are here – but for those that are not aware, NBA 2K is the definitive title for NBA action. And NBA 2K21 promises to be the greatest as well as the latest thanks to some big improvements in graphics and gameplay.

Developed by Visual Concepts and published by 2K Sports, this year’s entry is shaking up some of the expected NBA 2K formula by making some changes to various game modes, animations, and mechanics. This includes, and is not limited to, Pro Stick Shooting upgrades, 40 new Jump Shot Landings, Overhauled dribble moves, and 50 new Size-Ups.

Changes and tweaks are not the only thing to look forward to, as there will be plenty of brand new content as well. Badge Customization, Signature Challenges, and a new mode called MyTeam Limited are only a handful of the newest features. One of the most interesting, however, may be the new MyCAREER mode which will allow you to take your character from high school, to the college leagues, and, eventually, the NBA.

Of course, one of the most exciting changes that comes with each NBA 2K is the graphical overhaul. NBA 2K21 looks like it will be a stunner. Not only on the current generation of consoles, but on the upcoming Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 as well. We got a sneak peek at the next-gen ray tracing that the game will support back in July, and it is looking mighty fine. Those powerful new consoles are still a short way off, so it is nice that the game looks great on current systems as well.

Whether you are a veteran of the series eager to give it a go, or a curious first-timer, you have the option to try out a demo of the game right now on Xbox One. If the demo leaves you wanting more, a payment of ÂŁ59.99 on the Xbox Store will give you access to the full game and its bevy of new features, whilst the Mamba Forever Edition will set you back ÂŁ84.99 should you be feeling flush, with that bringing some additional content. Oh, and with this being a 2K game, there are a multitude of Virtual Currency packs too – ranging from the cheap (ÂŁ1.69 for 5000 VC) to the super expensive (450,000 VC for ÂŁ79.99!).
