Pixel art platforming finally comes to Xbox One with the launch of Furwind

If you want colourful pixel art, and plenty of action platforming adventure, then there is only one game for the job – Furwind.

Available to purchase and download right now on Xbox One, following a previous launch on Nintendo Switch, PS4 and PS Vita, Furwind comes from the team at JanduSoft – of Caveman Warriors fame – and the development brains of Boomfire Games to deliver an action-platformer that evokes the challenging classics of the old days.

Being sent off on a little adventure is always a pleasure, and with Furwind now available, that’s exactly what will be occurring – well, at least if you splash the £8.39 requested.

But what type of journey will you find ahead? Well, the story of Furwind begins when a great evil is awakened by a dark cult, threatening to destroy the balance of nature. Furwind, a little fox, is the hero of the hour and it is he who has been chosen to restore balance to the world. As you may expect, a little fox alone would probably struggle with this task, but thankfully Furwind comes with acquirable powers which can be used at any moment, refilling them in a shop in order to use them multiple times.

Evoking a classic feel like Rayman and Mario, JanduSoft and Boomfire Games hope that Furwind is able to recover the gameplay of games from the past, but with its own unique visual style. And from there, it’ll challenge all-comers with levels full of enemies and traps, testing not just your skill, but also your timing.

Features of Furwind include:

  • Put yourself in Furwind’s skin!
  • Explore every corner of the forest!
  • Live a challenging experience!
  • Use your powers!
  • Improve your abilities!
  • Fight strong enemies!
  • Enjoy an awesome OST!

Intriguing isn’t it? We think so and reckon that by paying the Xbox Store, the PlayStation Store, or the Nintendo eShop a little visit may well be for the best. If only because that pixel art visual style is a bit lovely. We will be sure to confirm those thoughts in our full review of Furwind on Xbox One though.
