Following on from 2020’s Formula Retro Racing is Formula Retro Racing: World Tour; the sequel to a game that has provided plenty of hot racing action over the last couple of years.

Formula Retro Racing: World Tour is a 1990’s inspired arcade racer that will be coming to all current consoles – Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5 and Nintendo Switch – on December 14th 2022. That’ll be followed by a PC version on Steam in early 2023.

Having been inspired by the like of Virtua Racing, Riiiiiidge Raaaacer, Sega Rally and the likes, Formula Retro Racing: World Tour should be a game that calls to the racing purists out there. It follows on from the original Formula Retro Racing to provide deeper game mechanics, slipstreams, varied handling and different car types, as you go chasing the milliseconds needed in order to beat best lap times.

Simplicity is the key for Formula Retro Racing: World Tour and that is no more true than in the visuals. Running a low-poly style, this looks great, running at 60fps, complete with 4-player split-screen multiplayer, online leaderboards and some of the finest checkpoint racing you could wish for.

It’ll be shown off at EGX 2022 in London, as players get the chance to go hands-on with the game through a Steam demo. We’re on hands as we speak and will be sure to let you know how we find the arcade racing goodness that is promised.

When you consider that Formula Retro Racing: World Tour comes with eight landmarked cities – Tokyo, Paris, London and more – multiple car types and classes and the different challenges that each of those brings, this is surely one to look out for.

For now take in the trailer that Repixel8 and CGA Studio Games have put together. We’ll be sure to remind you when that December release drop arrives.

I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
