When a game sells more than 600,000 copies whilst in Steam Early Access, chances are it’s a pretty good thing. And chances are that it won’t be long before that game breaks off of the PC and hits the land of console. That is exactly what Dead Cells is doing.
Already wowing the PC crowd, Dead Cells is a Roguevania styled action-platformer, that allows you to explore an ever changing castle… assuming you’re able to fight your way past its keepers. In order to succeed, you’ll need to master fluid, fast-paced combat whilst worrying about the ever present threat of permadeath constantly looming over your head. There are no checkpoints – it is all about killing, dying, learning and repeating.
And now that formula is coming to Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo Switch later in 2018. Whilst a cemented date isn’t yet known, just the announcement in itself should be enough to see Dead Cells warrant an eye.
“We’re thrilled to finally confirm that we’ll be bringing the Dead Cells experience to console players. We’re proud of what we’ve done with the help of the PC community and can’t wait to see how the gaming community at large react. We’ll be at Pax East next April, so come say hi! You might even get a sneak peek at the game on the console.” —Steve Filby, Producer at Motion Twin
As soon as that release date is known, we’ll be sure to bring it to you. But for now, fancy a trailer?
