The Bounty Huntress is a brand new Metroidvania on Xbox, PlayStation and Switch

We’ve long lost count of the sheer number of Metroidvania-styled gaming experiences that are available on the console scene, but that doesn’t mean we get bored of seeing new ones pop up. The latest is that of The Bounty Huntress. 

The Bounty Huntress is now available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S (fully optimised), PS4, PS5 and Nintendo Switch to give gamers the chance to take on a new Metroidvania, one in which they’ll become a bounty huntress – which judging by the title, is a bit of luck. 

Priced at £4.99 from the Xbox Store, with a little launch discount in place should you be jumping in close to launch, The Bounty Huntress puts you in the role of Rhea, a bounty huntress who is attempting to save the folk of the City of Vaunard from the walls of the mysterious Aresdale Castle. 

As you’d suspect, that’s not going to be the easiest of tasks but thankfully you’ve got some skills to help with this rescue attempt. Utilising those will be key to any form of success, whilst working the various weapons at your disposal will be just as vital. When you consider that Aresdale Castle is a vast place, complete with no less than seven different areas, and side quests will play off away from the main thrust, and you’ll fast see why those skills will be so important. 

With foes aplenty and some cool pixel art bringing things together, this could well be a decent Metroidvania to play through. The key features are well worth taking in…

In this Metroidvania-style game, Rhea is a bounty huntress with a task to save people kidnapped in the City of Vaunard. They have been taken to the mysterious Aresdale castle. Rhea has many special skills that will help her accomplish this difficult task. Help her rescue these people and to bring peace to the city of Vaunard. With monsters infesting the corridors in Aresdale castle, you will have to be careful to make it back alive. Besides dangers, this castle also hides several rewards.
