We’ve long lost count of the sheer number of Metroidvania-styled gaming experiences that are available on the console scene, but that doesn’t mean we get bored of seeing new ones pop up. The latest is that of The Bounty Huntress.Â
The Bounty Huntress is now available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S (fully optimised), PS4, PS5 and Nintendo Switch to give gamers the chance to take on a new Metroidvania, one in which they’ll become a bounty huntress – which judging by the title, is a bit of luck.Â
Priced at ÂŁ4.99 from the Xbox Store, with a little launch discount in place should you be jumping in close to launch, The Bounty Huntress puts you in the role of Rhea, a bounty huntress who is attempting to save the folk of the City of Vaunard from the walls of the mysterious Aresdale Castle.Â
As you’d suspect, that’s not going to be the easiest of tasks but thankfully you’ve got some skills to help with this rescue attempt. Utilising those will be key to any form of success, whilst working the various weapons at your disposal will be just as vital. When you consider that Aresdale Castle is a vast place, complete with no less than seven different areas, and side quests will play off away from the main thrust, and you’ll fast see why those skills will be so important.
With foes aplenty and some cool pixel art bringing things together, this could well be a decent Metroidvania to play through. The key features are well worth taking in…
