If you’ve dipped your toe into the narrative-driven, first-person gaming scene over the years, then you’ll probably have played something from The Chinese Room. You’ve probably walked away extremely impressed too. With that in mind, there’s huge excitement to see the release date for Still Wakes the Deep – their narrative horror experience set for Game Pass, Xbox, PS5 and PC.
In collaboration with their publisher, Secret Mode, The Chinese Room have today confirmed that Still Wakes the Deep will be coming to Game Pass, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC. They’ve announced that release date in a new trailer, one that is well worth taking in.Â
A Scottish horror
See, watch the video below and you’ll be whisked off to the Beira D oil rig, just off the coast of Scotland. It’s here where unknowable horror awaits.
Still Wakes the Deep is a narrative horror from the masters of interactive storytelling at The Chinese Room. In it, players must navigate the perilous, sinking oil rig they call home, with nothing more than their wits to protect them from whatever has entered the rig, and the roiling sea below.
And it is due to launch on June 18th 2024 for Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PS5. It will also be available with Game Pass for console and PC.
What is Still Wakes the Deep?
In the game, you are an off-shore oil rig worker, fighting for your life through a vicious storm, perilous surroundings, and the dark, freezing North Sea waters. All lines of communication have been severed. All exits are gone. All that remains is to face the unknowable horror that’s come aboard.
Standard The Chinese Room stuff then eh? Consider they were behind the likes of Dear Esther and Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture, and you should be sticking the launch of Still Wakes the Deep on your calendar right now.Â
We’ll be sure to remind you when Still Wakes the Deep releases on Game Pass, Xbox, PlayStation and PC.
