The Giro has just finished with Richard Carapaz claiming victory and so it’s now time for cyclists around the globe to start gearing themselves up for the next Grand Tour. And with the Tour de France 2019 getting ready to grind, Bigben and Cyanide have confirmed when the videogame version will be with us.Â
So, coming to Xbox One and PS4 on June 27th 2019, Tour de France 2019 will be found building on the foundations of the numerous games which have come before it, to provide an enhanced experience with innovative new features and ideas. And what’s more, the cover star will be none other than BORA-hansgrohe’s three-time world champion – the utterly nuts, utterly brilliant, Peter Sagan. Expect him to be wheeling his way to a box art near you soon.
Tour de France 2019 will come with this year’s route as standard as we get the chance to race as one of 761 cyclists across the 21 stages of Le Tour. Pushing for the yellow jersey and attempting to replicate the win of Wales’ Geraint Thomas from 2018, TDF 2019 will be coming with completely reworked AI, and a peloton that behaves much more realistically: your positioning and the choices you make are crucial if you are to lead your team to victory.
Further to that we will see the introduction of two new game modes:
- Online multiplayer mode:Â for the first time, you can pit yourself against other cyclists over short races in an online multiplayer mode for up to four players simultaneously. For even more of an adrenalin rush, the challenges are back this year, so you can experience the thrills of descents and the intensity of sprints! It’s your chance to achieve the best times and climb your way to the top of the online rankings.
- The world championships:Â in this new mode, players can lead a team or national team. If your cyclist’s results are good enough at the end of the season, he may be selected to represent his country in the World Championship to try and win the legendary rainbow jersey!
And if that isn’t enough to see you grabbing the lycra and ideas of heading out on your bike, then Tour de France 2019 will also allow us the chance to compete in four other official races in Tour de France 2019. This means that the legendary Tour of Flanders makes its debut alongside other renowned races: Paris-Roubaix, Paris-Nice and the Critérium du Dauphiné.
Will you be found spending times hitting the climbs of Tour de France 2019? We’ll be sure to remind you when June 27th 2019 rolls around, but in the meantime, it may well be worth you checking out our review of last year’s game – Tour de France 2018.
