For many it would have been the tale of Alan Wake which kicked off a whole new love of cinematic action-thrillers. Having first released in 2010 to critical acclaim, Alan is now back, fully Remastered and available on Xbox, PlayStation and PC.

Available to purchase and download right now on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5 and on PC through the Epic Games Store, Alan Wake Remastered sees the cult classic return, just now remastered in glorious 4K.

Telling the tale of a troubled author on the hunt for his missing wife, Alan Wake Remastered takes everything that was utterly great about the game from back in the day, spins it up a little, makes it look a whole ton more glorious and sends us on our merry way again – deep into the mind as he loses grip on reality.

We don’t need to sit here and tell you how Alan Wake plays out, you probably know all about that already and if you don’t you would be well advised to check out our Looking Back retrospective article that covers everything worth worrying about. But this Remaster doesn’t only cover the base experience that everyone knows and loves – it throws in the two story expansions of The Signal and The Writer for good measure.

Going into too much detail right here and now would be doing Alan Wake Remastered a disservice, so hold tight for our review on that front. We’ll be sure to let you know how Alan Wake Remastered plays on Xbox in the coming days. There’s a chance that it could still be able to provide an utterly stunning gaming experience.

If you wish to check it out for yourself though, just head to the digital store that you desire. We’ll point you to the Xbox Store in hope you are looking to grab it on Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S, although with Smart Delivery in tow, you can be sure you’ll be playing the best damn version of Alan Wake Remastered no matter which console you are on. You’ll also find Alan chatting away on PS4, PS5 and PC.

Let us know if you need to pick this up.

Game Description:

In this award-winning cinematic action-thriller, troubled author Alan Wake embarks on a desperate search for his missing wife, Alice. Following her mysterious disappearance from the Pacific Northwest town of Bright Falls, he discovers pages of a horror story he has supposedly written, but he has no memory of. Wake is soon forced to question his sanity, as page by page, the story comes true before his eyes: a hostile presence of supernatural darkness is taking over everyone it finds, turning them against him. He has no choice but to confront the forces of darkness armed only with his flashlight, a handgun and what remains of his shredded mind. His nightmarish journey to find answers to the mind-bending mystery he faces will lead him into the terrifying depths of the night. Alan Wake Remastered offers the complete experience, with the main game and its two story expansions – The Signal and The Writer – in stunning new 4K visuals. The tense, episodic story is packed with unexpected twists, heart-stopping cliff hangers, and intense bursts of combat where it takes more than bullets to banish the darkness. The game’s cutscenes, quirky cast of characters, and the majestic Pacific Northwest vistas have been enhanced for an experience that delivers as much on its visual impact as its unnerving atmosphere.
