We’re running out of ways to describe just how good the Game Pass additions for January 2024 are. But yet again we find ourselves here, waxing lyrical about a couple of new Game Pass additions. Ready to batter up and head to the future?
If you have an Xbox or PC Game Pass subscription, this month is a good one. We’ve already had a couple of massive new drops hit the service in recent days, Figment and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla being standouts, but there are more – and that more hits today.Â
Two new Game Pass additions come in the form of the latest in a long-running baseball franchise, whilst an old Game Pass favourite pops back from the future to say hello.
Super Mega Baseball 4
You can thank the inclusion of EA Play into the Game Pass service for this one.
Having initially run as an independent baseball batter, it wasn’t long before the might of EA picked up the Super Mega Baseball series, pushing out the most recent at the halfway point of 2023.Â
Super Mega Baseball 4 was that game. A baseball experience that is super easy to get into, perfect for both newbies and veterans of the scene. Granted, we weren’t overly positive about the game modes we found inside, and thought that – as a whole – it lacked in personality. But now Super Mega Baseball 4 is on Game Pass, you may as well give it a swing and a hit. After all, there aren’t that many baseball games on Game Pass.
And if you want to know more, read our 3/5 review of Super Mega Baseball 4.Â
“MLB The Show is still the undisputed king of baseball games. Super Mega Baseball 4 is there for the casual or younger players, but it’ll be hard to keep eyes on this for very long. It feels quite soulless and devoid of personality.”
We Happy Few
Is there anyone left who hasn’t played We Happy Few? Well, if you’re new to the Xbox game, this is one you shouldn’t be missing.
We still remember the reveal of We Happy Few like it was yesterday, even when, in actuality, it was many moons ago. Having utilised the power of Xbox Game Preview, it wasn’t until 2018 when full release occurred. We quite liked it too – even if we did have to put up with a plethora of bugs and glitches.Â
But now feels like the perfect time for We Happy Few to reintegrate itself into Game Pass. And yes, that does mean this is one that has been on the service previously. Is that a bad thing though? Nah. Just go and get it downloaded. From there, enjoying what is on offer in the mad, wacky, futuristic land of We Happy Few.Â
More changes on the Game Pass horizon?
Of course, we’re not even halfway through January and so that means there will be a ton of additional changes to the Game Pass service this month. We know that come January 16th players and subscribers will have access to Resident Evil 2 and Those Who Remain.
And there are going to be some leaving a day prior to that (Garden Story, MotoGP 22, Persona 4 Golden, Persona 3 Portable). But we also expect much more to drop into Game Pass as January progresses. As soon as confirmation is known, we’ll pass the info on.Â
Today though is all about the two new additions to Game Pass. Let us know if you’ll be taking to the batter’s box or heading to the future first. The comments are below.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla was a big suprise!
