There is just something that utterly appeals about going toe-to-toe with some dinosaurs, whether that be as you round them up in Jurassic World Evolution, or head out to take in some hunting in Dino Crisis or even in the upcoming spiritual successor to that icon in Instinction. However, the ultimate goal of any dino-fuelled affair is to save humanity from being overrun – and that is where Second Extinction looks to excel, especially as it works both the Xbox Game Preview and Xbox Game Pass avenues.

Available to purchase and download right now as an Xbox Game Preview title, following on from a massively positive launch on Steam Early Access, Second Extinction will have you and your friends teaming up to work their way through this 3-player cooperative shooter, with the main goal being to take down the mutated dinosaurs that are threatening to take over the planet.

As with any cooperative affair, teamwork will be at the heart of what happens here in Second Extinction, as you and your mates work a range of weapons, abilities and skills in order to push back your foes. It promises to be an utterly intense affair, full of spectacular action with some of the most explosive, adrenaline-filled scenarios you will ever see.

It will of course be the dinosaurs and mutated beings that are the main focus of Second Extinction, and these will come in various flavours. It won’t be long before you find yourself hunting down electric raptors, but before you know it the behemothic T-Rexes will rock up on the scene too.

As an Xbox Game Preview title that is fully optimised for Xbox Series X|S, it must be pointed out that Second Extinction will continue to be developed over the coming weeks and months, before full release as and when the development team at Systemic Reaction deem it fit for launch. We’ll have some initial early thoughts up and live in the coming weeks, but that full review of Second Extinction on Xbox Series X|S won’t be up until full release. Whenever that may be.

If you’re looking to take on the life of a dino-hunter, or just wish to help save Earth once more, you’ll find the usual download of Second Extinction available from the Xbox Store this minute – it’ll set you back ÂŁ20.99 unless you utilise the power of Xbox Game Pass. Smart Delivery is in place too.

Don’t forget it’s also available on Steam Early Access.

Game Description:

This game is a work in progress. It may or may not change over time or release as a final product. Purchase only if you are comfortable with the current state of the unfinished game. Big map. Big dinosaurs. Big guns. Face an ever changing threat level with your friends. Second Extinction is an online FPS with a bite.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.
