Ghostrunner 2 has been unveiled

Edit: 25th May 2023

Two years on from the first announcement of Ghostrunner 2, a trailer has emerged with further details.

Ghostrunner 2 is set one year after the critically acclaimed sci-fi original as cyber ninja protagonist Jack emerges from the deathtrap of Dharma Tower. It’s here where they get to explore the sprawling wasteland beyond. Ghostrunner 2 will feature intense fast-paced-push-forward combat, and deeply challenging gameplay, as the sequel ups the ante from the original in every conceivable way. That means, for the first time, vehicular combat will come to the fore, as Jack takes to the wastelands on his new motorcycle.

With new powers, upgradeable abilities, traversal mechanics, an expanded narrative, deeper world building, and devilish new enemies, Ghostrunner 2 should be seen as the ultimate power fantasy. It’s a game where every kill will be earned as you adapt to, and master the gameplay only a cyber ninja could.

Accompanied by a killer synthwave soundtrack, Ghostrunner 2 will release on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC later in 2023.

Enjoy the trailer.

Original Article: 13th May 2021:

Did you love what One More Level and 505 Games were able to deliver with their first person cyberpunked all-action Ghostrunner? Well, you’re in luck, because Ghostrunner 2 is coming to Xbox Series X|S, PS5 and PC.

Having sold more than 600,000 copies since launch, it’s fair to say that Ghostrunner went down pretty well with the game buying public. And that has moved 505 Games to reach an agreement with One More Level once again in order to develop and publish a sequel – the cleverly titled, Ghostrunner 2.

Due to launch on Xbox Series X|S, PS5 and PC at some point in time, details are extremely thin on the ground as to what this sequel will comprise of. If we’re guessing though it’ll take what was good about the original game – a great sense of movement, quick and visceral combat and some stupidly fun aesthetics and visuals – before taking things to the next level. This time hopefully without the technical issues that we happened across, particularly in the second half of the game.

With the original Ghostrunner also set to launch in Xbox Series X|S and PS5 flavours before 2021 is out, One More Level are certainly going to have their work cut out in the months ahead. We’re certainly excited to see what they can bring to the table once more.

Dev quote

“We are particularly excited about the future release of Ghostrunner 2. Together with One More Level, we have created a thrilling and engaging video game.” comments Raffaele Galante, co-CEO of Digital Bros with his brother Rami. “This new collaboration deepens 505 Games presence within the Polish videogame market, a reality now among the firsts in Europe for the development of video games, new projects and talents. We will continue to pay close attention to the Polish market to constantly improve and expand our product portfolio with video games capable of satisfying the tastes of the entire gaming community.”

If you haven’t yet played Ghostrunner, you’ll find an Xbox copy of the game present on the Xbox Store for £24.99. It’s also available on PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC.

There are even some DLC packs kicking around too – in the form of the Metal Ox pack and the Winter pack. Both are certainly worth consideration.
